First Battle of Panipat ( 1526 )
- Fought between invading forces of Babur and Lodhi empire on 21 April 1526.
- This war marked the beginning of Mughal Empire.
- This was one the earliest battle involving gunpowder firearms and field artillery.
- It was won by Babur
2. Second Battle of Panipat ( 1556 )
- Fought between Samrat Hemchandra Vikramaditya and Akbar on November 5th.
- War was won by Akbar. Famous General in the war : Khan Zanam I and Bairam Khan.
3. Third Battle of Panipat ( 1761 )
- Fought between Maratha Empire and invading Afghan Army of Ahmad Shah Durrani.
- Afghans were supported by four Indian allies – Rohilias, Afghans of Doab and Nawab of Awadh.
- Maratha Army was led by Sadashivrao Bhau who was third in authority after Chattrapati and Peshwa.
- War was won by Ahmed Shah Durrani.
